Japanese Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi will undertake a three-day official visit to India from July 1 to 3, 2026, for the 16th India-Japan Annual Summit at the invitation of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) announced on June 26. It will be Takaichi's first official visit to India since she took office in October 2025, and she will be accompanied by a large business delegation. All programmes will be held in New Delhi, after Guwahati was considered but dropped as a venue due to 'logistical issues'.
