Background & Context

e-Jagriti is a digital platform of the Department of Consumer Affairs, under the Ministry of Consumer Affairs, Food and Public Distribution, designed to modernise the consumer dispute redressal system established under the Consumer Protection Act, 2019. That Act created a three-tier quasi-judicial structure of District, State and National Consumer Disputes Redressal Commissions to adjudicate consumer complaints. e-Jagriti integrates and replaces older systems used by these commissions, providing a single AI-enabled portal for e-filing, case tracking, virtual hearings and online payments, thereby reducing delays and improving access. The National Awards for e-Governance, instituted by the Department of Administrative Reforms and Public Grievances (DARPG), are conferred annually to recognise and reward exemplary use of technology to re-engineer government processes and improve public service delivery.
